“I was delighted to be able to attend last year’s gala when CEFTUS presented awards to Turkish, Kurdish and Turkish Cypriot men, women and organisations for their great work.

Turkish, Kurdish and Turkish Cypriot people make an important contribution to British society, and CEFTUS plays a key role in recognising and celebrating that contribution.

The centre is a vital space for bringing together Turkey’s various communities in the UK and providing a forum for understanding, dialogue and debate.

Turkey is an important part of both Europe and the Middle East. Throughout the Brexit process, the UK must remain open to the world and rich in diversity and our relationship with Turkey must be a part of that.

I look forward to working with CEFTUS and others in order to achieve our shared goals.”

Rt Hon Jeremy Corbyn MP, Leader of the Labour Party
