Meg Hillier was elected Member of Parliament for Hackney South and Shoreditch in 2005. Meg is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Nigeria and Vice-Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cycling.

Meg is a trustee of the charity War Memorials Trust and a member of the Digital Democracy Commission set up by the Speaker of the House of Commons.

Meg was a local councillor for eight years, and was the youngest ever Mayor of Islington in 1998/99. She was elected to the London Assembly to represent Hackney, Islington and Waltham Forest in 2000. Meg was elected to Parliament in 2005 and was a junior minister at the Home Office from 2007 to 2010.
