Thousands’ of ECAA extension (Turkish Businessperson) & ILR visa applicants have been left in limbo awaiting to hear from the Home Office, some as long as 24 months. The delay is leaving people without the right to rent homes, enrol children in school or travel abroad. Visa holders are losing work, unable to visit dying family members or have important surgery outside the UK. Migrants’ rights campaigners describe the delays as among the worst in a beleaguered immigration system.
The majority had been told the delay in the decision was due to the case being ‘complex but lives are held at a standstill due to delays from the Home Office. Is this an error of home office and the pressure of post Covid build up or is it an intimidation policy to get ECAA visa holders to voluntarily leave the country after Brexit?
