Turkey and Iran are cooperating again as shifting regional dynamics sees their interests align

The Iranian military’s chief of staff has led a high-level delegation to Turkey this week amid growing signs of cooperation between the two regional rivals. Major General Mohammad Bagheri is said to have been invited by his Turkish counterpart General Hulusi Akar in what is the first visit of its kind since the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
The historic move comes less than 6 months after Mevlut Cavusoglu, Turkey’s foreign minister, accused Iran of fomenting sectarianism…
