Turkey has launched an official investigation into the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was last seen ahead of an appointment at the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul on October 2. Security camera footage obtained by the Turkish media appears to show Khashoggi entering the consulate but not re-emerging. Police were granted permission to search the consulate building on October 9 without significant result.
