Significant changes to Turkey’s electoral system are set to alter the country’s political landscape
- The ban on electoral alliances has been lifted, allowing the Justice and Development Party (AKP) to formalise its relationship with the Nationalist Action Party (MHP)

Further changes have been made to the rules governing elections in Turkey. The new legislation, passed by lawmakers in the early hours of March 13, will come into effect before local, parliamentary, and presidential elections scheduled to take place in November 2019.
