The attempted shooting of a German-Turkish national has refocused attention on the relationship between the Turkish government and diaspora communities in Europe

German police are investigating an incident in which shots were fired at the car of Deniz Naki, a prominent Kurdish footballer, on January 7. The shooting took place near the town of Duren, North Rhine-Westphalia, with local media reports suggesting that investigators are focusing on possible links to Turkish nationalist groups which have recently come to prominence in the region…
