Centre for Turkey Studies Met with Former Chancellor Alistair Darling

The London based Centre for Turkey Studies continues to meet with senior British politicians.

Ibrahim Dogus and Mustafa Topkaya of the Centre for Turkey Studies met with Labour politicians including the former Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling, Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury Rachel Reeves MP and Shadow Minister for Europe Emma Reynolds MP at an event held at Hilton Hotel.

Alistair Darling who was the former Chancellor of the Exchequer in the previous Labour government speaking to Ibrahim Dogus stated that Turkey’s growing economy is of significance for Britain. He added that the Labour politicians believe that the Turkish government endeavours to solve Turkey’s fundamental political issues and that Turkey would become a much stronger country when its domestic issues are solved with peaceful methods.

Shadow Minister for Europe Emma Reynolds MP speaking to the Centre for Turkey Studies pointed out that it is important that Turkey focuses on its progression towards a full membership to the European Union. Reynolds stated that the EU needs Turkey as much as Turkey needs the EU.

Mustafa Topkaya, Raife Aytek, Nurfer Ozkan, Timur Ekingen and Veysi Dede as well as the director Ibrahim Dogus on behalf of the Centre for Turkey Studies were present at the event that lasted until late hours.
