London based Centre for Turkey Studies continues to hold meetings. After meeting the Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, Andy Love Labour MP and many other officials, the centre met with the Conservative Party politicians of the government and discussed recent developments in Turkey.

Many prominent politicians were present at the event. Among them were the Conservative MPs Bernard Jenkin and Nick De Bois and Marina Yannakoudakis MEP. A committee including Ibrahim Dogus, Mustafa Topkaya, Nafız Bostancı, Timur Ekingen and Emre Egesel on behalf of the Centre for Turkey Studies attended the event held in Enfield.

The Conservative Party officials speaking with the Centre for Turkey Studies representatives commented on the economic and political affairs developed between Turkey and Britain. It was understood that whilst Turkey’s EU bid for membership was supported, the issues in relation to violations of rights and democratization process were pointed out and the proposed solutions were discussed.

The director of the Centre for Turkey Studies, Ibrahim Dogus, after the event, stated that the centre continues its multi-faceted work and that they had a productive meeting with Nick De Bois MP, a Centre for Turkey Studies advisory board member, and the other Conservative Party politicians. Dogus added that the centre will host another Turkey-related meeting where Columnist Kadri Gürsel of the daily Milliyet will kindly be the keynote speaker.
