Columnist Bejan Batur of Turkish daily Zaman

Other distinguished speakers included Meg Hillier MP, Keith Vaz MP, Eric Joyce MP and Lord Hylton.

The London-based Centre for Turkey Studies organised a public policy forum in the Houses of Parliament hosting two highly respected columnists and authors: Mr Hasan Cemal from of the daily Milliyet newspaper and Ms Bejan Matur. Both speakers discussed “Democratization and Political Reforms in Turkey”.

The speakers stated that the path for peace is full of obstacles, but that there is a strong hope for peace. Both of the speakers added that although there have been disconcerting events taking place in Turkey recently, Turkish and Kurdish communities are accessing the maturity of peace and is far closer than it actually seems.
