Invitation:

2nd Centre for Turkey Studies (CTS) Anniversary Reception & Dinner

Wednesday 27 March 2013

Reception: 6.00 pm; Dinner: 7.00pm, London, UK

I am delighted to invite you to the 2nd CTS Anniversary Reception & Dinner in London to celebrate with you and over 400 invited guests the achievements of the CTS policy forum over the past year. We are particularly pleased to announce the attendance of Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg who will honour us with his presence. Many senior government representatives and honourable members of the Houses of Parliament will also join us alongside senior representatives from Turkey’s world of politics, media, business and academia. In addition, senior representatives from the Britain’s diverse communities originating from Turkey and beyond have also confirmed their attendance and will be with us to support the activities of the Centre for Turkey Studies.

It is quite remarkable what the CTS has achieved over the last two years, especially as its activities are organised by a team of volunteers. And thanks to the ceaseless outreach-activities across communities and partnership with various institutions in Turkey and the UK, the CTS leadership has managed to invite top experts from across Turkey and the UK to discuss timely matters pertaining to Turkey’s domestic politics, foreign policy, social changes and economic future.  To date, over 65 top speakers, panellists and senior guests have contributed to the CTS’ wide range London-based policy forums, receptions and networking dinners. Our flagship event, the monthly CTS Westminster Debate which is hosted in the Houses of Parliament, attracts consistently over 100 interested guests from the British public.
In addition, given last year’s successful launch, we will also host the 2nd CTS Community Achievement Award to celebrate British individuals and institutions originating from Turkey and Cyprus for their positive contributions to their communities and Britain as a whole. The CTS will award individuals and institutions in 16 categories (including Business Person and Business Enterprise of the Year). A call of nominations for the 2nd CTS Community Achievement Award will be sent out in due course.

Please do let us know at your earliest convenience whether you can attend the reception and/or the three-course dinner to network with senior guests and representatives from Turkey and the UK. The cost of the event is £100 per person.

With best wishes,

The Centre for Turkey Studies (CTS) is an independent and non-partisan organisation inaugurated in April 2011 with the support of the UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg in London. The CTS provides an open forum promoting expert opinions and debates focusing on Turkey and UK relations, foreign affairs, economic issues and social developments in Turkey and the region. The CTS organises regular speaker series, panel discussions and round tables  in the British Parliament, think tanks, academic institutions and the City of London. Our speakers include leading politicians, experts and opinion formers from Britain, Turkey and beyond. In addition, the CTS conducts case studies at the requests of think tanks, public institutions and the private sector interested in questions related to the economic, political and social development of Turkey and the region.
