Reception with the Secretary Of State for Energy and Natural Resources, Ed Davey

 

The Centre for Turkey Studies continues to attract attention with its work in collaboration with think tanks, British parliament and the universities in the UK despite the centre’s recent inauguration.

The Centre for Turkey Studies celebrated its first anniversary in the last month with eminent guests such as Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and journalists, writers and politicians from Turkey.

Director of the Centre for Turkey Studies, Ibrahim Dogus, has recently attended an event organised by the Liberal Democrat Party. In the event, Dogus discussed the recent developments in Turkey and the centre’s work in Britain with Secretary of State for Energy and Natural Resources Ed Davey MP, Sarah Lutford MEP, London Provincial President of the Liberal Democrat Party Jonathan Fryer and many more politicians.

Sarah Lutford, Member of the European Parliament, stated that she followed the centre’s work closely and observed its significant achievements in a short period of time. Lutford also announced that she has joined the Centre for Turkey Studies advisory board and will support the centre more actively in the forthcoming period.

Secretary of State for Energy and Natural Resources Ed Davey indicated that the Centre for Turkey Studies’ activities are organised by a team of volunteers and that the centre fills an important gap regarding relations between Turkey and Britain. He added that he would do his best to support the centre’s future work.

Director of the Centre for Turkey Studies, Ibrahim Dogus, stated that the centre will continue to strengthen it social and political events and activities and that the centre receives more and more support from politicians and academics in the UK.  Centre for Turkey Studies held forums with the world-famous institutions Chatham House and Strategic Dialogue Institution and will carry on its work in the future.

The event which took place in Islington welcomed many important people such as Chair of Liberal Democrat Friends of Turkey Turhan Ozen, Director of the Global Rule of Law Forum Can Yeginsu, Istanbul CHP Provincial Vice-President and Head of CHP Foreign Relations Guven Karatas, Islington Councillors Terry Stacy and Lucy Powell.
