Labour Party Conference | Media ownership, Disinformation, and Public Security

The far-right terrorist attack in Christchurch New Zealand earlier this year was an international reminder of the need to tackle the spread of hate filled narratives that leave minority communities vulnerable to attack. Meanwhile, the UK is witnessing an unprecedented era of political divisiveness and personal attacks. In the context of our current age of fake news and post truth, this event will explore the connections between the press, social media, and the rise of hate.

To analyse these issues, how they are interlinked, and what might be coming next, join Naz Shah MP, Brian Cathcart, co-founder of Hacked Off, Isobel Ingham-Barrow, Head of Policy, MEND, and journalist Rachel Shabi.

Other speakers – Seema Malhotra MP, Rupa Huq MP, Zeeshan Ali, Kyle Taylor.

Please note, you will need a conference pass to attend this event.
